We Are All a Little Mad Here

Food for Thought

Let’s be real, not everybody should be able to have a baby.  We can argue the politics of it, we can argue how wrong I am to even suggest that certain people shouldn’t ever have children but we live in a world where mothers sell their daughters and politicians visit third world countries with their viagra.  So let’s not pretend we don’t.   Hear me out.

I once wrote a paper in college suggesting that all American citizens be on a diet that chemically kept them from conceiving.  If that sounds far-fetched, think about how your food has been spliced and genetically altered without your even knowing it and has been for years.   If someone wanted to conceive, one would have to apply for a license, just like you do to drive or to fish.  You would have to demonstrate responsibility and compliance to certain rules.  Remember we put rules in place to keep people safe and we’re talking about children.  So prospective parents would take some classes, demonstrate commitment and the ability to raise a child by completing their coursework in a timely fashion, and perform relatively well on the test that would assess their ability to be stable and psychologically sound.  Such a class would inform them of childhood behavioral patterns and the psychological impact of certain styles of discipline Etc.  Then they would receive a conceive kit, perhaps a regimented meal plan, pills to neutralize the contraceptive,  sure there’s a lot of details but stay with me.   How well you do in your classes would be tied to a subsidy, we already help struggling moms but with an incentive to take these classes seriously, one could increase the help they would receive.  Beats throwing money at bad parents, in my opinion.  So am I a crazy person?  Is it nuts to want to stop breeding psychopaths?  That’s like paying young people to go to college! That’s like suggesting we should all have a womb to tomb free healthcare and mental health, like who wants to invest in a healthy sane citizenry right? What a nutbar right? Next thing you know I’ll suggest free energy, clean and renewable, so our elderly disabled and broken people aren’t rotting in the gutter when the heat is unbearable or it’s freezing outside, or a commitment to provide clean water for future generations! Crazy right?  We certainly can’t afford all that! We certainly can’t afford to invest in a clean healthy SANE nation where people aren’t dying on the streets! And who would fight our wars for us if we gave them all an education to question our obsession with policing other nations while ignoring our own corruption and decadence.  We wouldn’t have any money to bomb the crap out of all the nations we don’t like, or you know the ones we want to rob.
